As record temps blanket the U.S., Wisconsin manufacturer Shade Haven LLC is on a mission to keep people comfortable and safe from the harmful impacts of heat stress. Last summer, the company partnered with two Minnesota-based rental equipment companies to debut its innovative mobile shade system at events throughout the Twin Cities area.
Metro Cold-Stor, which specializes in refrigerated beverage trailer rentals, added a Shade Haven to its rental fleet last summer. Owner Matt Kenevan recognized the perfect pairing of cold beer and shade.
“I had never seen anything like the Shade Haven before in my market,” he says. “And I’m always intrigued by what can be made out of a trailer.”
The shade trailer draws a lot of attention at Kenevan’s events. “It’s pretty wild how the Shade Haven transforms a space,” he notes. “When event attendees see it, they want to talk about it because it’s something brand new.”
Increased Shade Haven rentals have generated more visibility, driving further inquiries. The Shade’s successful performance at the Minnesota State Fair–with daily attendance in the tens of thousands–resulted in significant exposure, extending the company’s reach and potential customer base.
Madigan Enterprizes LLC based in Ham Lake, Minnesota, also added a Shade Haven SH1200P to its rental offerings in 2024. “I like getting in on the ground floor with a unique innovation like the Shade Haven,” noted Madigan owner, Kevin Leslie.
The Shade Haven complements Madigan’s primary rental equipment, The Party Wagon, a pop-up stage used by bands and DJs at outdoor concerts and events. “I love the Shade Haven. I can drop it off, set it up in 15 minutes, and I’m out of there,” said Leslie.
Shade Haven is known not only for its superior products, but also for its stellar customer service, something Leslie appreciates. “It’s a new product in this area. It might take me a while to get the word out, but with the Shade Haven company behind me, I feel really good about it.”
One Shade Haven is not enough
Both Leslie and Kenevan encourage their customers to give the Shade Haven a try. The two companies even teamed up for some larger events. That has Kenevan thinking of adding more Shade Havens to his fleet. “The more I talk to my customers, the more I hear them asking for multiple units per event. That makes me know there is a demand for it.”
Shade Haven LLC produces mobile shade systems used around the world. The SH1200P mobile event shade is DOT approved for transport with a ½-ton pickup truck on all U.S. highways. The system can be set up by one person in 15 minutes to put 1200 sq. ft. of shade exactly where it is needed. The Shade Haven is customizable with seating and stand-up bar options, as well as misting and lighting kits that extend the functionality after the sun goes down.
Shade Haven recently appeared in Las Vegas at the ARA Show – the world’s largest equipment and event rental show – to introduce its mobile event shade structures to rental companies around the nation.
“I was extremely impressed with the interest in the Shade Haven at the ARA show,” notes Shade Haven VP of Sales and Marketing, Ben Witucki. “There is no doubt in my mind that we will see Shade Havens at events throughout the country in the next couple of years.”
