Orchestrating a memorable event requires careful planning and attention to detail. Choosing the date and venue, marketing and promotion, food, beverage and entertainment are all key components. With record-high temps in the forecast, shade is also a critical part of the experience mix – and most remarked on by guests if done right.
That’s certainly the case at the Live in Viroqua outdoor music events held throughout the summer on Court Street in Viroqua, Wisconsin. For the second consecutive summer, a Shade Haven mobile shade system will provide relief from the sun at this community music event.
“We had temps in the upper 90s last summer. Our event is a four-hour event on a public street with no shade, so the Shade Haven has a meaningful impact for our guests,” said event organizer Justin Miller.
Providing shade is not just about comfort; it protects guests from harmful UV rays and reduces the risk of heat exhaustion or sunburn, thus enhancing the overall experience. Providing a place for guests to take a break from the sun keeps them engaged and prolongs their stay at the event.
Quick and Easy
The mobility and quick, easy setup of the Shade Haven is crucial for the Live in Viroqua music events.
“Since we close down the street for the event, we need something that can be moved in and set up quickly,” said Miller. “When the event is over, they are out in minutes, and we can open up the street again.”
The live music event is free to the public, so beverage sales are important to raising revenue for future events. Miller added, “The Shade Haven doubles as both shade coverage for our guests and the beverage sales tent.”
Since the outdoor music event runs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., lighting added to the Shade Haven extends the unique experience into the evening.
